Asian Business Association of Whitehorse Inc. (ABAW) was established on 10th May 2002 by a group of passionate businessmen in the Box Hill area, who have been contributing their time and effort, volunteering to build a cultural-diverse and cohesive community.
As a not for profit organisation, ABAW’s committee comprises of businessmen and professionals. Nowadays, its members are not limited to people living, working or trading in the City, but from all over Melbourne.
ABAW is not only connecting businesses in the Whitehorse City, but also bridging local Council, State and Federal Members to the Asian community. It has been partnering with the City of Whitehorse to organise the Chinese New Year Carnival in Box Hill since 2003. This is the only overnight Chinese New Year celebration throughout Melbourne, and it attracts more than eighty thousand people to attend each year. ABAW also works tirelessly all these years with various Government Departments, such as Health, Police and Economic Development to promote food safety, public safety and better infrastructure, via the means of roadshows, seminars, publications and digital media.
